The discussion focused on the continuing threat to regional and international security posed by North Korea, and the special challenge of negotiating with the Pyongyang regime. Issues discussed included:

  • The challenges of assessing the intentions of the North Korean leadership;

  • Identifying and understanding recurring methods and patterns in the "unpredictable" North Korean negotiating style; and

  • Lessons learned for U.S. policymakers on the eve of planned high level talks in Washington.

A Question & Answer period followed the speakers' remarks. The panel also fielded questions from the webcast audience.
